Uber Blames Drivers’ Choices For Lack Of Advertised Earnings

Uber has reached a $20 million settlement with the Federal Trade Commission for making false claims regarding driver earnings. Uber argues it is due to drivers not driving enough.

Uber has claimed that drivers in cities such as New York and San Francisco can earn a median of $74,000-$90,000 annually. Research shows that they are making $20,000-$30,000 less than these claims.

Before the settlement was reached, Uber put forth a letter claiming that the reason for the discrepancy is due to drivers simply not driving enough. According to Uber, about 60% of drivers worked fewer than 10 hours per week. They also stated it makes no sense that drivers who do not drive enough should be compensated for their own choices.
