Uber is introducing in-app tipping now as part of their 180 days of change, a feature that drivers have been wanting a long time for. Here’s how it works.
- When in-app tipping becomes available in your city, you will be notified via the Uber app as well as your email.
- Once you get the notification, update to the latest Uber Driver app.
- After restarting your app, you will receive a message that allows you select an option called “ACCEPT TIPS”. Press this button.
- Riders will now have the option to give a $1,$2,$5, or custom tip after rating the trip.
- You will be able to see how much a customer has tipped you in the trip details afterwards.
- All of your tips will be shown in your trip history.
- Tips will be shown in your weekly summary as well and cashed out at any time using Instant Pay.
- Riders have 30 days after a trip to tip.
- If you have received any tips while your app was closed, you will see all the tips you received upon going online again.
