Uber might be hit with a class-action lawsuit in the future due to a “clever and sophisticated” scheme that will charge the rider a higher fare based on a slower, longer route that the driver could take. On the flip side, however, the driver’s commission will be paid based on the cheaper, faster route that they can take.
In other words, both parties suffer because the passenger gets overcharged and the driver gets underpaid, while Uber gets the benefit of increased profits because of this.
