After the SF Treasurer and Tax Collector subpoenaed Uber to provide Bay Area drivers’ personal contact information, Uber has taken legal action against them after they had refused to down the information from their website. The information they received is used in order to collect business license taxes from drivers in California.
Uber is in support of Senate Bill 182 which would prohibit local governments from publicly disclosing your personal information. It will also streamline business licenses and allow the need for only one license recognized throughout California, potentially saving drivers hundreds of dollars in annual business license fees.
