Uber will relaunch in Austin after the government finally got rid of the fingerprint requirement for the background check.
The company originally left because the process was an expense that they did not want to deal with and it also was a barrier for new drivers to overcome.
While this is a good thing for customers in Austin, what it also means is that the smaller ridesharing companies in the area such as Fasten and Ride Austin may be run out of business with the return of the Uber giant.
