Uber and UberEATS App Will Finally Have Tipping Option

Uber is starting their 180 Days of Change campaign and one of their starting changes will be the addition of in-app tipping in the Uber app.

Long ago, Uber didn’t even allow drivers to be tipped. Eventually, they reluctantly agreed to allow drivers to accept tips after many complaints. Now, they took it one step further by allowing in-app tipping finally. Now there doesn’t need to be a discussion about tipping with passengers. Passengers can now put in the tip after the trip ends.

The tipping feature also applies to UberEATS, so there’s no need for physical cash now when tipping your UberEATS driver.

There are zero service fees applied and you can always cash out with Instant Pay if you want to.

Discounted Ride Passes For Uber Riders

Uber will be offering discounted ride passes for select riders. For drivers, likely meaning more trips for drivers.

Upon purchasing the pass, riders can take unlimited rides for a flat fare for 28 days.

Drivers benefit because of an increase in activity as well as receiving 100% of the money they would’ve gotten for the trip.

This promotion could mean that business is slowing down for Uber.

Uber To Relaunch In Austin

Uber  will relaunch in Austin after the government finally got rid of the fingerprint requirement for the background check.

The company originally left because the process was an expense that they did not want to deal with and it also was a barrier for new drivers to overcome.

While this is a good thing for customers in Austin, what it also means is that the smaller ridesharing companies in the area such as Fasten and Ride Austin may be run out of business with the return of the Uber giant.

Uber Now Picks A Driver With Similar Rating To You

Uber has changed their system which picked your driver. Before, it would be based on proximity so the closest drivers to the people requesting the ride would get the notification. Now, drivers and riders will be matched based on the similarity of their rider/driver ratings.

The highest rated riders are more likely to be matched with the highest rated drivers and the lowest rated riders are more likely to be matched with the lowest rated drivers.

This may be an attempt by Uber to encourage good behavior by all parties.
