As part of Uber’s 180 days of change, Uber has included a couple of new sources of income without you needing to change anything.
- Long pickup fees – If your pickup location takes longer than a certain amount of time to get to, you will start to receive extra income up to a maximum of $20. This will only apply to UberX and UberPOOL trips. They are not affected by Surge or Boost and will not apply to Driver Destination trips. You will not be able to cheat the system as it will detect whether you are making reasonable progress to your pickup location.
- Better late cancellation fees – If a rider cancels more than 2 minutes after you’ve accepted their trip, you’ll be paid the higher amount between the standard cancellation fee or the actual time and distance you spent driving towards their pickup location.
