Since you can’t see passenger destinations before you start the trip, schedule conflicts might occur or you might just not want to do them. What can you do?
If this occurs, talk with your passenger and let them know the reason why you can’t make the trip. If the reason is just that you don’t want to do a long distance trip, make something up that is believable. Let them know that you can’t see their destination ahead of time as well so they can understand your situation. While they may still rate you 1 star, there’s a higher chance that they will be more lenient with you if they know your circumstances. Tell them that you will cancel the trip so they will not receive a cancellation fee and that another Uber driver will be assigned to them.
