• Long pickup fees – If your pickup location takes longer than a certain amount of time to get to, you will start to receive extra income up to a maximum of $20. This will only apply to UberX and UberPOOL trips. They are not affected by Surge or Boost and will not apply to Driver Destination trips. You will not be able to cheat the system as it will detect whether you are making reasonable progress to your pickup location.
• Better late cancellation fees – If a rider cancels more than 2 minutes after you’ve accepted their trip, you’ll be paid the higher amount between the standard cancellation fee or the actual time and distance you spent driving towards their pickup location.

As part of Uber’s 180 days of change, Uber has improved the ratings system to give you more protection and clearer feedback.

• Updates to the star rating system for riders – If a rider selects a rating under 5 stars, they will be able to select options stating common problems they might have had an issue with the ride such as the driving experience, comfort, the driver, etc. This allows Uber to know more specifically what the problem was. This feedback will appear in the Rider Feedback section of your Ratings tab.
• More confident feedback – Riders won’t see their updated rating until after they’ve rated you, allowing you to provide feedback with more confidence.
• More ratings from riders – Riders will be reminded before their next trip to rate the previous trip.
• Ratings protection – If a rider rates you below 5 stars, reasons outside of your control will not affect your driver rating. Additionally, riders who constantly give low ratings will not be included in your driver rating.

As part of Uber’s 180 days of change, Uber has made some improvements to the pickup experience.

• You can now see your rider’s location live – If the rider chooses to share their GPS location, you will be able to see exactly where they are on your app.
• Guest pickups – Riders can now request an Uber for guests who do not have the Uber app. The rider will enter in the information of any guest who will need to be picked up and the guests will get an SMS containing your information as well.
• Reminders for riders – Riders will be notified that you are waiting for them if you have been waiting at the pickup location for longer than 1 minute.
• Scheduled advance trips – If a rider has scheduled a trip in advance, you will now see it on the request screen.

The next batch of changes have come out for Uber’s 180 Days of Change campaign, featuring several quality of life features to benefit drivers.

1. Additional Driver Destinations – The amount of Driver Destinations available to you have increased to 6. Up from the previous 2, this means that you can now pick up and drop off passengers leading to your preferred destinations more often now.
2. Set arrival times for your Driver Destinations – If you need to be at your Driver Destination at a certain time, you can now set an arrival time so that you can get there without worrying about being in the middle of a trip with a passenger.
3. Notifications for long trips – If you’re someone who doesn’t want to take long trips, this is a great addition for you. Any trips that will take longer than an estimated 45 minutes will now give you a heads up so that you can skip them easier.
4. Preference of trip type – If you’re driving for both Uber and UberEATS or thinking about it, you can now easily toggle which service you want to receive requests from if one service is slow or even if you just feel like doing one over the other.
5. More lenient acceptance rates – Your acceptance rating will now have less of an impact on your eligibility for Uber Quests or your account standing.

The way it works is that if a passenger ever rates under 5 stars, they will now be required to provide a reason for their rating. If the reason is out of your control, such as pricing or issues with the GPS, their rating will be removed.

Uber has added a new feature to the Driver app that allows drivers to see where their passengers are in real time.

When a passenger requests a ride, a blue rider icon will appear on your map to show where the passenger is in real time so there is never any confusion when it is time for pickup.

Uber has met with the SEC to discuss giving Uber drivers equity in the company, a change that could increase its amount of drivers as well as driver loyalty.

It is widely known that driver morale is low due to the amount of scandals the company has had as well as issues with pay. This move is one of Uber’s attempts to improve the company’s relationship with its drivers.

There are times when passengers would forget items in your Uber vehicle. It now costs them $15 to have it returned.

There were often times when Uber drivers would have to deliver forgotten items to a previous passenger’s location. Normally, you would think completing such an act deserves a tip, and sometimes, passengers would give a tip. Other times, however, drivers wouldn’t receive a tip because passengers aren’t required to tip for the extra service. This means that the Uber driver used their precious time and gas to return an item to the passenger for no reward besides knowing they returned a forgotten item.

Uber is correcting this by charging a mandatory $15 to passengers to return the forgotten item, allowing some compensation to the driver so that it doesn’t feel like a waste of time and gas. Passengers can still tip extra if they want to.
