Invite codes are a way for new drivers or those thinking about become Uber drivers to earn more money in their first month working with Uber.

When you use an invite code, you will get a guaranteed amount of money if you complete a certain amount of trips. An example would be a $750 guaranteed amount for 20 trips in 30 days.  This means that if you complete 20 trips in 30 days, Uber is guaranteeing that you will make $750 total.

What this means is that you should take only short trips so that you can get the $750 as soon as possible, and then earn more money regularly afterwards.

If you don’t want to be committed to Uber, invite codes allow you to get the guaranteed amount before quitting as well.

What Can I Do If I Can’t Accept A Long Distance Uber Trip

Since you can’t see passenger destinations before you start the trip, schedule conflicts might occur or you might just not want to do them. What can you do?

If this occurs, talk with your passenger and let them know the reason why you can’t make the trip. If the reason is just that you don’t want to do a long distance trip, make something up that is believable. Let them know that you can’t see their destination ahead of time as well so they can understand your situation. While they may still rate you 1 star, there’s a higher chance that they will be more lenient with you if they know your circumstances. Tell them that you will cancel the trip so they will not receive a cancellation fee and that another Uber driver will be assigned to them.

Will I Get A 1099 Form From Uber

As an independent contractor, you will receive a 1099 form from Uber because Uber does not take taxes out of your pay.

Uber will automatically send this in the mail when it’s about time to file taxes. You can also view this form online on your account at Uber’s website.

What Is A Destination Filter For Uber

How Uber’s New In-app Tipping Works

Uber is introducing in-app tipping now as part of their 180 days of change, a feature that drivers have been wanting a long time for. Here’s how it works.

  1. When in-app tipping becomes available in your city, you will be notified via the Uber app as well as your email.
  2. Once you get the notification, update to the latest Uber Driver app.
  3. After restarting your app, you will receive a message that allows you select an option called “ACCEPT TIPS”. Press this button.
  4. Riders will now have the option to give a $1,$2,$5, or custom tip after rating the trip.
  5. You will be able to see how much a customer has tipped you in the trip details afterwards.
  6. All of your tips will be shown in your trip history.
  7. Tips will be shown in your weekly summary as well and cashed out at any time using Instant Pay.
  8. Riders have 30 days after a trip to tip.
  9. If you have received any tips while your app was closed, you will see all the tips you received upon going online again.

Uber To Introduce Paid Wait-times

Uber is starting their 180 Days of Change campaign and one of their starting changes will be the introduction of paid wait-times.

With Uber introducing paid wait-times, you now have less of a reason to cancel a trip. You will be paid by the minute after 2 minutes have passed since your arrival to the pickup location. With one of Uber’s other new future changes being a 2 minute cancellation window, you can either choose to wait for your passenger after 2 minutes have passed, or you can cancel immediately after 2 minutes have passed and move onto the next passenger. Remember that your cancellation rate is still affected even after the 2 minutes have passed.

The wait-time pay will vary from city to city.
